19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former trainer his previous coach.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks his maiden championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.
Victory also means he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.
His counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five points to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.
Moutet rescued 4 early chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
